GRTS Student

Thank you for your interest in Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Attending seminary will strengthen and challenge your biblical understanding, theological framework and faith journey. GRTS programs are designed to further cultivate your spiritual transformation and equip you for future ministry.

1. Learn about GRTS

Grand Rapids Theological Seminary is an interdenominational seminary located in west Michigan. We offer a variety of degree programs with unique specializations, and most of our students qualify for financial aid. We offer once-a-week daytime and evening classes throughout the year, with the chance to take up to five courses online. We are proud to be a part of Cornerstone University and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and Association of Theological Schools.

3. Visit

The best way to discover if GRTS is right for you is to sit in on a class, go to lunch with a professor, talk with current students, and taste the free coffee in the lounge for yourself! Join us for a personalized visit or one of our Preview Events throughout the year. You can RSVP for the preview event that is right for you. We’re looking forward to hosting you.

4. Select a program

We are proud to offer a variety of programs that will effectively prepare you for ministry. Our programs offer unique specializations and include a solid Bible and theology core. For a full list of programs and specializations, click here.

5. Apply to the Seminary

Our applications are free! We’ll also need a ministry reference, a personal reference, and official transcripts from any undergraduate and graduate work you’ve already completed. Ready to apply?

6. I’m accepted. Now what?

Congratulations! We look forward to officially welcoming you at New Student Orientation. We’ll be contacting you soon about registering for classes, accepting financial aid, and preparing for your journey at seminary. You'll receive a student ID and password that will give you access to our student portal, Eagle's Nest, 100 days before the semester begins. You'll find the semester book list and syllabi there as the first day of classes draws near.

Don’t forget to apply for financial aid! We offer institutional grants and scholarships, as well as facilitate federal loans. To qualify for institutional aid, you’ll need to complete the FAFSA and our Seminary Scholarship application. For more information, visit our Costs and Aid page.
