Yes, R&R means “rest & relaxation,” but it may also stand for “Read & Relax,” or “Recent & Recommended”—reading for relaxation! Miller library has lots of new titles to get you started. Here (every other week or so) you will find several recent books that we (Library staff) recommend for your enjoyment, edification, and education. Check one out this week! (Future R&R suggestions will include DVDs as well as books from a variety of academic disciplines.)
Awarded Christian Book of the Year in 2003, The Heavenly Man (written by Brother Yun and Paul Hattaway) is sure to inspire, challenge, and convict all who read its pages.
This book describes the incredible story of Brother Yun, one of the leaders of China’s house church movement, and his amazing testimonies of God’s power and faithfulness. With every new page you will learn more about the severe persecution, intense passion for Christ, and extraordinary miracles that have taken place in China throughout this last half century. Above all, The Heavenly Man shows clearly that the God of the Bible is still alive and well, drawing near to all who seek His face!
Don’t miss a chance to be deeply moved by this “modern-day version of the Book of Acts,” (Rev. Dr. Mark Stibbe). Come to Miller Library today and check it out for yourself!

Here are a few other interesting “R&R” titles at your Library:
Blind Spot: When journalists don’t get religion, edited by P. Marshall (Oxford U: 2009)
Justification: God’s plan & Paul’s vision, by N.T. Wright (IVP: 2009)
The Gospel according to Bruce Springsteen: rock and redemption, by J. Symynkwicz (WJK: 2008)
Unfashionable: Making a difference in the world by being different, by T. Tchividjian (Multnomah: 2009) .GRTS Prof Mike Wittmer comments: “Tchividjian persuasively argues that difference makers must be different. This book is an important and necessary reminder that Christians who strive to be relevant end up being redundant, while those who challenge our culture just may change the world.”
