The reference computers located in Miller Library are available for scholarly research and educational purposes only. These computers are provided primarily for the use of the students, faculty, and staff of Cornerstone University. Non-Cornerstone community members may use select computers for scholarly research and educational purposes, although at busy times, preference will be given to members of the campus community. Users will adhere to the following policies:
• Violation of the United States and/or Michigan state laws, including copyright laws and software licensing agreements is prohibited.
• Downloading any software onto a reference computer is prohibited, including any software from a personal disk or CD.
• Library staff reserves the right to monitor the use of all computer access.
• Playing games is highly discouraged and may be cause for a staff member to give the computer to another who needs it for academic use.
• Computers may not be used for proprietary business (personal or corporate commercial).
• Users are expected to preserve all of the computers’ configurations and displays.
• Guest patrons and alumni must sign the user-agreement and computer log at the Circulation desk before using the computers.
• Library staff reserves the right to limit the number of guest patrons and alumni using the reference computers to two computers at one time, namely during peak times of the school year.
• Guest patrons and alumni are able to use the reference computers for a maximum of 90 minutes per person, per day.
• Guest patrons and alumni are responsible for signing out on the computer log at the Circulation desk, where they must pay $0.10 per page for all printed pages.
• All computers will be turned off 10 minutes before the library closes each day.
• Children under 17, unless considered part of the campus community, must be accompanied by a supervising adult who must sign the user agreement and computer log at the Circulation desk.
• The standards for behavior expressed in the Cornerstone University Student Handbook also apply.
