Finding Peer reviewed journal articles

How do I find if a journal is a Peer-Review Journal?

- Go to the Miller Library web site (www.cornerstone.edu/library/)
- Select Databases
- Select Ulrich's Periodical Directory
- Select Title and then type in the title of the journal.
- In the Features column, check Refereed
- From the results screen, look for the Refereed symbol


How do I find Miller Library periodical holdings? (what volumes/years Miller Library owns)

- Go to the Miller Library web site (www.cornerstone.edu/library/)
- Select Library Catalog
- Select Journal Search
- Enter the journal title
- Look for the Libr. has information


How do I find Peer-Reviewed journals through FirstSearch?

- Go to the Miller Library web site (www.cornerstone.edu/library/)
- Select Databases
- Select FirstSearch
- Select Title and then type in the title of the journal.
- In the middle of the screen, select the arrow by Jump to Advanced Search. Select either GenSciAbs or WilsonSelectPlus. These two databases have the option to search for articles from peer-review journals.
- In the top Search for box, enter peer-reviewed journal. Then click on the arrow where it says Keyword. Scroll down and select Reviewed Journal Phrase. You may then enter your topic in the other two search boxes. You will probably want to search by Keyword or Subject.
- Select an item to view by clicking on an individual highlighted title or mark a group of titles.

You can mark titles from both searches and then view your marked items all at one time by selecting the Marked Records option under Results in the list of options on the left of the screen.

- You may select to print or e-mail your citation(s) and/or full text articles. If the articles you want are not available in Miller Library or are in full text, you may request the articles through InterLibrary Loan by selecting the ILL icon.


How do I find Peer-Reviewed journals in InfoTrac General Reference Center Gold, Health Reference Center-Academic, or Health and Wellness Center databases?

Go to the Miller Library web site (www.cornerstone.edu/library/)
- Select Databases
- Select InfoTrac

-For General Reference Center Gold
- Enter your search term in the center of the screen
- In Limit the current search section, you may select full text, date, and title options
- From the results screen, choose the category you wish to view
- Look through the articles and mark the ones you would like to view. When you have completed marking articles, select View marked list
- Select the Search the catalog at Miller Library option to see Cornerstone’s holdings
- Select the View option to look at each item. All items will give you the bibliographic citation for the item, some will include an abstract of the article, and some will give you the full-text of the article.

For Health Reference Center-Academic or Health & Wellness Resource Center:
- Enter your search term in the center of the screen
- In the Limit the current search, select to referred publications
The rest of the search will be similar to the General Reference Center Gold, but you will already know that your search results only include peer-reviewed journals.

To access Academic Press e-journals through Ideal:
- Go to the Miller Library web site (www.cornerstone.edu/library/)
- Select Databases
- Select IDEAL
- Select SEARCH at the top of the screen
- In Select Ideal Category, Select the category most appropriate for your subject
- Enter your search term in the Search box(es)
- Choose to Sort by Journal and then click on the Search button
- When you have the results, compare the journal titles to the list of Peer Reviewed Journals in bold type. You may view a full text article by selecting the Article PDF file.
