Where to start...
There are several places to look for statistics. A good place to start is with the federal government's many publications and websites since the government continually gathers statistics on business, education, health care, the environment, etc.
Federal
- Statistical Abstract of the United States provides an overview of the many statistics gathered by the government and is a summary of statistics on the social, political, and economical organization of the United States.
- U.S. Census Bureau provides data for population, housing, economic, and geographic data.
- American FactFinder is the place to look for population, housing, economic, and geographic stats.
- American Community Survey is an ongoing survey of a sample of the population.
- FedStats Browse the list of over 100 U.S. agencies.
- STAT-USA is a service of the U.S. Dept. of Commerce and offers authoritative business, trade, and economic information.
- National Center for Health Statistics
- FRED (Federal Reserve Economic Data) provides almost 3000 economic time series. Gross domestic product.
