Chris Lemke, interim vice president for broadcasting at Cornerstone University Radio, was selected as Christian radio’s General Manager of the Year Sept. 9 at the annual Christian Music Broadcasters’ convention in Orlando, Fla.
Lemke also received the Music Director of the Year award for medium market stations.
“This has been one of the most challenging years in my career, but God has also graciously given us a great team at Cornerstone University Radio that makes my job so much easier and more enjoyable,” he said.
The Christian Music Broadcasters represent more than 80 radio stations and media groups from around the country who broadcast to a total of more than 31 million people every day.
Last year, Lemke received the Program Director of Year award for medium market stations from the Christian Music Broadcasters’ convention.
Cornerstone University Radio, comprised of three stations, is one of the nation’s leading Christian media groups, broadcasting to more than 160,000 listeners in the West Michigan area each week.
WCSG is one of the market’s top five stations, and Cornerstone University Radio has plans to expand. It plans to sign on a sister station, WCFG, in Battle Creek this fall.
Youth-oriented WAYG in Grand Rapids and WAYK in Kalamazoo are also university radio stations. The ministry has plans to sign on an additional youth-oriented station called WAYO in Benton Harbor.
Cornerstone University radio’s other two ministries are HisKidsRadio, a station just for kids, and Mission Network News, which reports on missions efforts around the world to more than 2.5 million listeners every day.
