Meyers, who taught at Cornerstone since 1979, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2007 after experiencing intense abdominal pain. Despite weeks of chemotherapy, Meyers returned to Cornerstone to teach a full load of classes for the 2007-2008 school year.

"As an alumnus, Ron was my teacher, colleague and friend over the years," said Rob Keys, associate professor of science, who worked with Meyers since 2001. "However, the best things that I learned from Ron were not in the sciences, but in his spiritual walk with the Lord. His academic and spiritual leadership will be greatly missed here at Cornerstone."

Meyers earned his bachelor's degree from Cedarville University. He also held a master of science degree in biochemistry from The Ohio State University. He taught foundations of scientific inquiry, anatomy & physiology I & II and origins at the university.

He leaves behind his wife, Karen, and three children: Kalena, Jeremy and Lauren.

“The Lord has led me through quite an incredible experience recently,” he wrote on his Cornerstone faculty Web page. “But, through it all I can say that ‘God is good.’"

He chronicled his journey on his CarePage titled ronmeyers at www.CarePages.com.
