Thanks to mobile technology and online education programs, whatever location you find yourself in can be transformed into a classroom. By providing textbooks and other learning resources electronically, in formats that are accessible on mobile devices, Cornerstone University is making mobile learning a real possibility for students. Cornerstone University’s Professional and Graduate Studies division has made the Apple iPad (3rd generation) (16GB with Wi-Fi – Black) available to students enrolling in all upcoming MBA and MAEd cohorts, at a discounted price, who have also opted to receive their books in electronic format. Students may already have another device or choose to purchase an alternate device. Before purchasing any device(s), it is recommended that you visit your local retailer(s) to do your own hands-on evaluation.

Apple iPad

Apple’s revolutionary device is transforming mobile computing with what was the world’s first tablet device. Measuring 9.7 inches (diagonal), the iPad has a widescreen mult-touch display with front and rear facing cameras. Available with different storage sizes and with either 3G or wifi connectivity from the Apple Store or from select local electronics retailers.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

With a thinner and lighter device and a larger screen, measuring in at 10.1 inches (diagonal), Samsung offers a very competitive Android-based tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab has front and rear facing cameras and is available in different screen sizes (10.1, 8.9 and 7.0), with varying storage sizes (16Gb and 32Gb) and with wifi or 3G connectivity. The Samsung Galaxy Tab (10.1-Inch, 16GB, Wi-Fi) is available for purchase online or from local electronics retailers.

Amazon Kindle

Although not as large, Amazon’s Kindle devices may be an option for you. Six different Kindle devices are available from the small, lightweight easy to read (reads like paper E-Ink display) Kindle to Amazon’s latest color 7″ Kindle Fire HD. The Kindle Fire is based on the Android OS with apps available directly through Amazon’s Appstore for Android. Amazon’s Kindle devices are very affordable and priced from $79 and up.
