The GRTS approach to education is focused on developing students for ministry by developing their knowledge and skills. As part of this development process all GRTS classes fall under one of four main areas of expertise: Bible, Theology, Counseling, and Ministry. Each degree program at GRTS is designed to meet specific goals through a carefully constructed range of classes. Integrating these classes into a theology of ministry that builds upon expertise in interpreting Scripture and understanding theology contributes to a the goal of authentic ministry that is culturally appropriate.
GRTS is a community that deeply values a committment to applying knowledge to real-life issues. Seminary provides a service for the church in order to train and equip those who are called to ministry. People come to seminary from many different walks of life and at different stages of life. Together there is a shared emphasis on growing in knowledge and skill in the classroom and in practical ministry training. The Ministry Residency program at GRTS is one example of the committment to integrate theological training with ministry experience.
