Insightful thoughts from Mr. Sherwood: "Love God, love people, don’t be afraid of change, and always remember God has a plan for your life. Listen to Him when He’s telling you something, I think He knows best."

Out with it, Andrew.

What has God been teaching you lately?

I've been learning dependence upon Him. I constantly need to just come to God and say, “I can’t do it on my own, I submit my will to yours Lord.” God has also been teaching me the importance of Love. He has laid on my heart to love people - not just like them, but truly show them love no matter what I’m feeling.

How did you get to CU?

Well, I’ve known about CU my whole life. Both of my parents went here, and then my sister and brother-in-law went here as well, so I always knew CU was an option - but that is not how I ended up here. For a while during high school, I thought I wanted to go to Bethel University, but after a visit to both colleges and a lot of prayer, I found Cornerstone was the place for me. I was able to attend an Evensong and a chapel during my visit. During Evensong, which is a Sunday night worship service on campus, I heard an entire community of believers lift up praise to God - it was so moving and impactful! It was actually that night at Evensong that I decided I wanted to go to Cornerstone. It was the community of believers that I saw here at CU which drew me in - I didn’t want to pass that up.

What do you hope to do when you graduate?

I want to be a social worker, loving people and helping them where they are at.

What do you do for fun?

I love to sing and play the piano. I try to find time every week to get to a piano on campus and just play and sing for an hour or so. I also love to draw and paint.

What's your favorite thing about Cornerstone University?

The people, definitely. The other students here are such an encouragement. Since the first week I have met so many people and made so many friends, and I feel truly blessed. These people encourage me when I’m down, rejoice with me when I am happy, and love me when I need it most.

What is your advice for students in the middle of the college search?

Pray about it. If you are just choosing a college because it looks cool or because it's big (or small for that matter), or even because it has a lot of opportunities, you may want to check your motives. Ask God if that is where he wants you, and keep praying. Don’t just stop after you get accepted, sometimes God works in the eleventh hour.
