What brought you to CU?

I really wanted to study photojournalism and somehow use that in conjunction with missions. I've always felt called to missions, so I figured it would be best to attend a Christian college. Cornerstone University was the only Christian college I found that offers photojournalism as a major, and when I visited I fell in love with the campus and people here! I spent a lot of time in prayer, and when all my financial aid came through (even after my dad lost his job...yikes!), I knew God was leading me here.

What do you hope to do with your major when you graduate?

When I graduate I hope to work with missions organizations to improve how they use media in their ministry. I love people, I love other cultures, and I love media. I believe the Great Commission was a command from Jesus, not just a suggestion. I want to use the gifts and passions he's given me to spread his name among the nations.

What's your favorite thing about Cornerstone?

I love that CU is a fairly small community. It's really easy to make friends here and get to know people quite quickly. If you want to talk to someone about Jesus or life, or anything really, there are always friends close by. It's a really good support system for someone like me who is from a far away city.

What is your advice to someone who is trying to decide which college to attend?

Pray pray pray. Seriously - God will make it abundantly clear where you are supposed to be, and it's amazing to watch Him open the doors for you to get there. Remember that He's got in under control and DON'T WORRY!

What has God been teaching you recently?

God is teaching me a lot about who he is and who I am. I'm a really big planner....I like to know where my future is going. Last semester was a big lesson in surrender for me. When I rest in the fact that God is God and I am not, I feel so much more at peace about the future. I've also learned a lot about myself, in that I am nothing apart from Christ. My entire identity is found in Him, and I wouldn't have it any other way!
