An emphasis in pre-occupational therapy prepares you for entrance into competitive graduate degree programs in occupational therapy, equipping you with foundational knowledge you'll build upon as you learn methods to empower patients and clients in attaining the ability to complete their day-to-day tasks with ease.

In addition to meeting the requirements for a major in exercise science, you'll register for six courses that serve as pre-requisites for admittance into graduate programs in the field. Chosen to align with the admission requirements of occupational therapy graduate programs in Michigan, you may choose to expand upon this list as you research specifications of your preferred graduate program.

    You will gain a sound knowledge of how the body moves and the physiological changes the body goes through when exercising. Upon completion of graduate course work, you'll have opportunities to administer:

    • Consultation services with area organizations.

    • Treatment program implementation.

    Is this major for me?

    Pre-occupational therapy is an excellent major for person-oriented students passionate about health and wellness. You will study biological and anatomical sciences, and develop the tools to help patients regain their independence and improve daily health.

    Your compassion combined with our program prepares you to serve in a variety of settings. These workspaces may include hospitals, schools, nursing homes, private practices and community centers.

    Students interested in careers in occupational therapy are often required to attend graduate school following an undergraduate degree in pre-occupational therapy.
