Colleen Smith (M.R.Ed. '94) worked at Cornerstone for 24 years. She started as the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Student Development for two years, then as Certification Officer in the Teacher Education Division for three years.
Colleen was part of the team that started Cornerstone's PGS division in 1993, and from 1993-2010 she served as the Director of Academic Services, which involved hiring, training, assigning and evaluating PGS faculty. She says that this was the most rewarding time in her career because of the challenges her team faced and the accomplishments they achieved.
Finally, she was the Director of Academic Excellence and Quality Assurance for two years, in which she was responsible for developing systems and evaluation tools to assess programs, customer service and procedures. During her time at Cornerstone, the school was approved by multiple boards and accreditation systems due to her work on self-study reports.
In her work, she sought to encourage her staff and the PGS faculty in the midst of challenges and to help them see their value to the team so that they could develop their spiritual gifts within their roles.
Colleen enjoys reading in her free time, and she volunteers for various causes such as Paws with a Cause, Forgotten Man Ministries and Horizon Education Network. She is also in the Mountain Movers group that prays for the university, students, staff and faculty of Cornerstone once a month on campus.
