Our traditional undergraduate chapel services use a lectionary adapted specifically for colleges by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church to study the large narrative of Scripture. On Feb. 5, Jonathon Brown will give a teaching based on Isaiah 61:1-4.

Music Matters Concert & Lecture Series: Andrew Fritz

At Cornerstone University, the Music Matters Concert and Lecture Series prepares students and community members to advance as musicians through seminars that discuss new ideas in the music industry.

On Feb. 26, Andrew Fritz, adjunct professor of percussion and percussion methods, will give a free lecture titled "Music Moves: A Percussionist's Perspective on What Moves Us to Make Music and Why Music Moves Us." The event is free and open to the public.

Speaker Andrew Fritz

Andrew Fritz is a percussionist, timpanist and music educator based in Grand Rapids, Mich. He has been principal timpanist with the Battle Creek Symphony since 2014 and a member of the percussion section in the Lansing Symphony and the Ann Arbor Symphony since 2015. He also frequently performs with the Grand Rapids Symphony, including their most recent trip to Carnegie Hall in 2018.

Andrew is an active percussion educator with teaching appointments at Aquinas College and Cornerstone University, both as an applied instructor and as a lecturer in percussion methods. He received an artist diploma as a student of Ed Harrison and Vadim Karpinos at Roosevelt University. Andrew also holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Bachelor of Music degree from Webster University.
