I’m Ryan Mitchell, and I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree in psychology at Cornerstone University’s Professional & Graduate Studies.

I chose to continue my education at Cornerstone because I knew that it would put me in the best position and better prepare me to achieve my personal and professional goals. Obtaining my bachelor’s has always been a goal of mine. I was looking to expand my career options, and I knew in order to accomplish this I needed to further my education.

Secondly, I’m driven to inspire those around me, including my children, all the while showing that I too value higher education.

And, as we all know, life throws us obstacles. I’ve had different situations that I’ve dealt with, being prior military and starting a family. I finally came to a point in my life where I was able to pursue my education because of Cornerstone.

Supportive Learning Community

Cornerstone offered me the opportunity to overcome those obstacles and achieve my goal. The staff was very supportive, and I knew that it wasn’t just going to be me. Whenever I needed a helping hand, I could reach out and there would be someone to help pull me up and along.

The staff, faculty and Center for Student Success walked with me in this process. The follow-ups and the people working along with you—that’s huge. They checked up on me and made sure I wasn’t overwhelmed.

PGS being a military-friendly school was also huge for me. They were very supportive and knowledgeable of me being prior military. They embodied something that I’m familiar with, being in the military, and that’s that no one is left behind. If I ever needed support, the PGS staff wanted to see me succeed.

Like Jesus Christ serving as the cornerstone for his church to be built on, the PGS community serves as my cornerstone who I know is there when needed and wants to see me succeed. They truly embody what Cornerstone University stands for. They are always available and ready to serve one another.

The Difference of a Degree

My journey at Cornerstone University has proven to be of great value and make a difference in my life. I have grown immensely—both intellectually and spiritually. This experience has given me a more macro-level perspective on my life and work.

It starts with God. Whenever I can put His word and a biblical perspective into my personal and professional lives, I am better able to serve those around me and make an impact in my environment. This has further blossomed my walk with Christ, making me a better husband, a better father, a better friend and colleague.
