Veverly Austin: A Faith that ActsBy Bailie Rouse on December 6, 2019
This week in chapel, Pastor Veverly Austin preached on Hebrews 10:35-39 and Hebrews 11, and she emphasized that Hebrews is written to a group of people who are in despair, and the author of Hebrews is seeking to strengthen their spirit by testifying about others who went through great challenges and yet held on to God's promise. Our faith must move and have action, and it will unite us with God. If our faith is active, then we know and believe in an active God who can do anything.
Martin Luther once said, "Faith is a living, bold trust in God's grace, so certain of God's favor that it would risk death a thousand times trusting in it. Such confidence and knowledge of God's grace makes you happy, joyful and bold in your relationship to God and all creatures."
When we choose to rest in God, we can then be confident that everything God has started in our lives, He will finish it. We must be confident that we are one in Him.
