What can I do with this major?

Upon successful completion of student teaching and passing the Communication Arts certification test, graduates could teach communication arts courses at the middle secondary school level such as Speech, Debate, News/broadcasting, Media, Communications, Public speaking, Oral interpretation, Forensics, Journalism, Yearbook or School newspaper.

What internships or partnerships are available with this program?

Students in this major spend a semester student teaching under the direction of an experienced teacher at public and private schools throughout West Michigan. Students also have the option of completing part of their internship experience at a school overseas.

What are grads doing now?

Many of our graduates have successfully obtained teaching positions in public and private schools throughout Michigan and in other states. And, many of our graduates have also taken positions in Christian/private schools in countries thought the world.
