CU Hosts Champions of Character Games

Cornerstone University’s Mol Arena will host not only Champions of Character all-stars, but also Michigan State University All stars and basketball pros on Wednesday, June 18.

High school all-star games will begin at 5:30 p.m. for girls and 7 p.m. for boys. Following this event, “Hoop Heaven” will feature a game between MSU All Stars and pros.

The MSU All Star team, assembled by MSU alum and professional basketball player, Thomas Kelley, will include players: Charlie Bell, Andre Hutson, Idong Ibok, Antonio Smith, Austin Thorton, Kelvin Tobert, Travis Walkton and DeJuan Wiley. They will be coached by former Spartan, Mateen Cleaves.

The Pro team will be made up of Champion of Character players Cicl Brown, Callistus Eziukwu, Javontae Ford, Jason Jamerosn, Tom Snikkers, Pete Trammell, J.R. Wallace, and CU’s Wed Hudson. The team will be captained by Kyle Visser.

The teams will face each other for the Hoop Heaven matchup beginning at 8 p.m. Cost is $5 per person for the high school game and a flat fee of $15 per family. Tickets for the MSU game will cost $10 per person.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the "Champions of Character Lecturing Initiative" for OK Conference schools in West Michigan, where every player, coach, referee, parent and spectator will commit to the true spirit of competition through respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
