Enactus Wins Regionals, Heads to Nationals

Cornerstone University Enactus chapter will compete nationally after winning the regional competition in Chicago in April.

“I’m very proud of our Enactus team,” said Shawn Newhouse, faculty advisor for the CU chapter. “They have put countless hours in this year to complete several meaningful projects.”

The on-campus student group is part of an international organization that engages college students in competitive, community-wide efforts across the world.

The goal of Enactus is to combine an entrepreneurial spirit, servant leadership and active participation to find creative ways to help others.

“More than anything I’ve done at CU, Enactus has given me the skills and tools necessary to thrive in my life after college,” said Matt Hays, graduating senior and president of CU’s Enactus chapter.

Some of the chapter’s project highlights included a series of networking events for students, social media seminars for local non-profit organizations, and a sustainability initiative with CU’s recycling program.

The group presented results from their year-long efforts in a presentation at the regional competition. A group of students will travel to Kansas City, Mo. to compete nationally against other chapters in May.
