If you are a certified teacher in the state of Michigan, and you are planning to add an endorsement to your certificate, renew your certificate, or move to the next level, there are a few things to plan for:
- For the ESL endorsement, you will need to pass the MTTC test as well as complete either the endorsement program or the master’s degree. For the Educational Technology (NP) endorsement, there is no test but it does require completion of endorsement courses.
- As of February 2011, most certification is handled online through the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS). To access the Michigan Online Educator Certification System (MOECS), users must have a valid Michigan Education Information System (MEIS) login name and password. If you do not have a MEIS login name and password, you need to first create a MEIS account.
- Once you submit your application, Cornerstone will be notified if you indicated in the application that you completed your work here. We will review your academic record and any other criteria needed (i.e. teaching experience, completion of the Reading Diagnostic Tools and Remediation course, etc.). After our thorough investigation, we will make the recommendation to the state, and the system will send you a bill via email which you will pay online as well. When the process is completed, the state will mail you the new certificate.
