More about Rex:
What are your career aspirations?
I hope to work at some type of financial firm after college. However, more down the road I aspire to use my business skills in camp ministry.
How did you choose your major?
I declared my Business Marketing major prior to arriving at Cornerstone University. However, I recently added a second major, which is Finance. I had a hunch I would enjoy business towards the ends of college. After taking a few classes, I knew I enjoyed the business division and decided I would learn even more by adding a Finance major.
Why did you choose CU?
I was planning on attending a state school back in Wisconsin, but then was challenged to seriously check out some Christian colleges in the region. After analyzing a number of universities and much prayer, I felt that Cornerstone was where God had plans for me.
Are you involved at CU outside of class?
I have been a part of the admissions team before. I am a youth group leader for Ada Bible Church. I am a Terra Firma Group Leader this year and will be on the Terra Firma Leadership Council in the 2014-15 school year. I am part of the student business advisory council. I am a project leader for Enactus. I am also the manager for Cornerstone's Men's Varsity Soccer Team. I plan to continue doing all these things next year.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
I love to play the drums and guitar whenever I can get my hands on them.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I love hanging out with friends, playing basketball, long boarding, watching movies, and finding new music that no one has found yet!
How would you describe community life at CU?
The community is the constantly refreshing part of Cornerstone.
What was God teaching you last semester?
God has been teaching me that every day we can be used for Him no matter who we are or where we come from. Each day is a new day--there is no reason to waste a single moment.
What’s your favorite thing about CU?
By far the relationships that you develop. The best part of Cornerstone is the type of student it attracts. I think everyone would agree that they have found the best type of people by coming to Cornerstone. On top of this, it is incredibly easy to get involved in whatever you desire to get involved in. Not intimidating at all!
What was your favorite thing about Terra Firma?
Terra Firma is a great opportunity to meet new people and start college out right. Even if your group does not become your best friends for life, you will never regret being a part of your group and spending time together. You grow close knit no matter what.
Many students are concerned about the sticker price of CU. How has financial aid helped make CU a possibility for you?
Financial will help you out. Do not make a decision based on the sticker price. My second year at Cornerstone was cheaper than my first. Continue applying for scholarships too! If God wants you somewhere, He will provide.
Do you have any advice for future students?
Do not waste your time in college. Push yourself and continue to try new things, because this is the time to do it. You will learn more about yourself every day and create incredible relationships along the way.
