We are excited that you are considering returning to Grand Rapids Theological Seminary to complete your degree. Here are some key steps to getting started.
Any former student who has not been enrolled for one semester or more (not counting a summer semester) must apply for readmission. Updated reference forms may be required. In addition, students that have not been enrolled for more than three semesters will need to submit a full application with all necessary supporting documents.
Readmit students who have been withdrawn for more than 5 years or who have attended other academic institutions since they attended GRTS must provide official transcripts.
All transcripts must be sent from the originating schools directly to the Grand Rapids Theological Seminary’s Admissions Office:
GRTS Admissions Office
1001 E. Beltline, NE
Grand Rapids, MI 49525
Electronic transcripts can be sent to Grand Rapids Theological Seminary directly from the school via an electronic transfer service such as EScrip, National Student Clearinghouse or Parchment to the following email seminary@cornerstone.edu.
Scholarships, grants and financial aid are crucial in making graduate theological education accessible. 70% of GRTS students receive a grant and/or scholarship.
In order to apply, complete both the Seminary Scholarship Application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application. The GRTS/Cornerstone University school code is 002266.
Schedule an individual meeting with your admission counselor to develop a plan and to see if there have been changes in your degree program since you last attended GRTS. Prepare by taking a look at course schedules for upcoming semesters. Coming out of this meeting you will be ready to move forward with confidence.
Once you have met with your admissions counselor, you’re ready to register. Most likely, you will have decided on your courses in your meeting, and your admissions counselor will register you. If you are still debating your course options, reach out to your admissions counselor with your decisions. After the first semester, you will be able to register for classes using the university’s WebAdvisor system.
If you have questions, contact us at seminary@cornerstone.edu or call 800.697.1133.
Once you have been accepted and registered for classes, you will receive a bill in the mail shortly before the start of the semester. You have three payment options:

Timothy Bassett (M.A. ’19)The diversity at GRTS has caused me to be slower to speak and quicker to listen. I’ve learned that my perspective is not always the majority nor is it the correct one. I’ve appreciated that element to my education here.
