Biographical Information:

John Varineau earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wyoming in 1976 and his Master of Music in Clarinet from the Yale University School of Music in 1978. At Cornerstone, he teaches a course in beginning conducting.

Varineau currently serves as the Associate Conductor for the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra and Conductor of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony and Classical Orchestra. He has been featured as a guest conductor for over 10 ensembles including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. Varineau has recorded with both the Grand Rapids Symphony and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He frequently performs as a clarinetist for orchestral, chamber music and solo performances.

In his spare time, Varineau enjoys reading and biking.
