More about Shanda:
What are your career aspirations?
I’d love to work at a record label with artist relations.
Why did you choose CU?
I chose CU because of the CCM program. When I was looking through colleges, it was one of three schools that had the program. The distance from home to school was good too- long enough to get home relatively quickly if I needed to, but also far enough away that I would be on my own.
Evensong worship leader. Evensong is a student led worship service held every Sunday night. It’s really great because it’s a time for the students to lead each other and be encouraged by each other while worshiping our God together. My favorite part of being on the team is being able to give back. Going to Evensong the past three years has really impacted my life and now I have the chance serve the community in the way that I personally was the most impacted.
Share a fun fact about you:
My name is in my county paper every year because I was crowned Cutie Queen in the Mermaid Festival.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I like to go longboarding, sleep, and go on coffee dates with friends.
How would you describe community life at CU?
It’s really friendly. I can walk anywhere on campus and see a ton of people I know.
What did God teach you last semester?
God taught me a lot about patience and trust. No matter how much we have going on in our lives, He will sustain and grow us through it.
What’s your favorite thing about CU?
I love the people! The students, professors, and staff are all fantastic. Everyone wants the best for you and wants to see you grow. Its environment is really encouraging.
What’s your favorite spot on campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the bell tower. I love getting up in the morning and sitting on the benches surrounding it.
What was your favorite thing about Terra Firma?
I loved meeting everyone! One of the greatest things about Terra Firma is that everyone is going through a similar situation. Very few people know anyone coming in, but there are so many opportunities to meet new people.
How do you balance your involvements & class load?
It’s difficult for sure. There is no exact science or way to go about it. A lot of it depends on the class loads week to week. I make sure I sleep 8 or 9 hours every night. As soon as you give up sleep it becomes much more difficult to think clearly and do well in your classes. After that, I just make sure I’m spending my time wisely- getting on facebook as little as possible, being in the zone when I’m doing homework, keeping my mind on what I’m doing rather than thinking about everything else I need to get done that day, and then of course hanging out with my friends when I need to relax.
