More about Summer:

What are your career aspirations?

I am hoping to get a job teaching either high school or middle school science once I graduate. I would love to pursue a master's degree and potentially even open an environmental school for middle and high school students.

Favorite professor:

My favorite professor is Dr. Fryling. He was my chemistry professor and I always appreciated the way he taught because he found a great balance between being tough and fair. He loves all his students and makes it his priority to put God first in the classroom by applying the work of Jesus Christ to what we are learning.

Current and past involvements/leadership positions:

Freshman year I served on CUSG (student government) as a student senator. This year I was a member of the Student Retention committee and a Terra Firma Group Leader. Next year I will continue to work as a member of the Terra Firma Leadership Council and additionally will be a member of the Student Activities Board.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I love to garden, fish, go to the beach and spend time with my family. I also love exploring Grand Rapids and trying out new coffee shops with my friends.

What did God teach you last semester?

God has really been teaching me about his love for me and His sovereignty in my life.

What’s your favorite thing about CU?

My favorite part of CU is the student activities. I love when we have events like Mock Rock or Movie Nights because everyone gets involved and they're always a lot of fun.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

My favorite spot on campus is in the library at a table in front of the big windows. It's always warm and comfortable, especially when you can sit and watch the sunset while doing homework.

 Why did you choose CU?

I chose CU because I loved the atmosphere. When I was visiting I just felt a peace about being on campus and noticed a genuine joy in the students that I didn't see at other schools. I loved all the professors that I met and knew that I would be comfortable calling Cornerstone home for four years.

What was your favorite thing about Terra Firma?

I love the friendships that I made during Terra Firma. It was so nice to have a group of people I could count on during the first year of school. I've loved keeping up with them over this past year and seeing how we've changed and grown.
