The transition from high school to college can be an interesting and challenging time. Leaving your parents’ home for the first time, being responsible for yourself and simply figuring out who God created you to be is a process that can be difficult. Some thrive while others struggle.

Graduating from college and transitioning into the adult working world also poses many challenges. From finding the right job that best fits your skill set to locating the right place to put down roots, the second transition can be tedious.

The Alumni Association recently implemented two unique initiatives that we hope will alleviate some of the uncertainty that transition entails.

Alumni Letter Project

The Alumni Letter Project is a new program that connects alumni with current students in a meaningful and impactful way. The goal of the program is to provide personalized letters written by alumni to current Cornerstone University students. With 329 dorms room across campus, our vision is to have a letter in every room on move-in day in late August!

Through a letter, you have the opportunity to connect with a student that lives on campus. So go ahead and share your favorite memory. Share your best advice. And let a student know that you’ll be praying for him or her throughout the semester!

Regional Alumni Chapters

The second initiative is to launch regional alumni chapters throughout the country. Currently, we have chapters established in Chicago, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Fort Wayne and Detroit. These chapters serve as a support network for alumni living in these areas as well as a resource for alumni that move there. Please email alumni@cornerstone.edu for more information on how to join a regional alumni chapter.

I encourage each of you to participate with both initiatives. To learn more about how you can be involved, follow our social media accounts for updates on events and new projects. After all, the Cornerstone community extends far beyond West Michigan!
