Advanced Standing

Spur your leadership and influence forward by taking advantage of advanced standing as a graduate of Cornerstone University.

Earn your graduate degree in less time and at a lower overall cost by taking advantage of courses you’ve previously taken as part of your undergraduate work.

Master of Business Administration

As you pursue advanced standing for the MBA degree, you’ll get some great perks:

  • Earn your degree in as little as 13 months*—seven to nine months shorter than the full MBA program length.
  • Take one 6-8 week course at a time, all online through CUAnytime.
  • Save an estimated $9,185** in tuition compared to the full MBA program cost.

  • Waive up to five courses in the MBA program with courses you’ve previously taken.
  • Specialize your learning with one of three concentrations, including health care, finance or project management.

*Timeline based on taking core courses from June to December, with concentration courses taken from January to June.

Advanced Standing Credit

The following undergraduate courses count toward courses required in the MBA program:

*If this course is not included in your bachelor’s degree program, taking MGT-531 at PGS fulfills this requirement. Note that this may be an addition to the eight graduate-level courses required for MBA degree completion.

MBA Courses

After factoring in the courses you’ve waived, you’ll need to complete the remaining MBA core courses and three courses in your selected concentration. Core courses are taken from June to December, and concentration courses are taken from January to June.

The following are the remaining courses you’ll be required to take to complete your MBA:

  • Research Methods.
  • Ethics, Values and Social Responsibility.
  • Quantitative Analysis.
  • Organizational Behavior and Change.*
  • Managerial Finance.
  • Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
  • Plus three courses from one of the following concentrations: finance, global business, health care or project management.

*This course may be taken in your undergraduate degree program as MGT-335.

Admission Requirements

To qualify for advanced standing in the MBA program, you must have:

  • A bachelor’s degree from CU’s traditional undergraduate Business Division.
  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA from a completed traditional undergraduate business degree program.
  • Professional resume.
  • Two letters of recommendation on provided forms. One must be from an academic adviser or faculty member from your undergraduate program. The second must be from an individual qualified to comment on your character and capacity for graduate study.
  • International Students: TOEFL or IELTS score.
  • Application ($25 fee).

Master of Arts in TESOL

Use advanced standing to cultivate your authentic compassion to serve others through a master’s degree in TESOL from Cornerstone University.

After factoring in the courses you’ve waived, you’ll need to complete the remaining core courses to complete your M.A. in TESOL.

Finishing in One Year

In order to complete the M.A. in TESOL within one year, LIN-501 Issues in TESOL and LIN-565 TESOL Methodology I must be completed during your undergraduate program and paid for out-of-pocket at the graduate-level rate. If these requirements are not met, you are still eligible for advanced standing. However, your master’s program may extend beyond one year.

Admission Requirements

To qualify for advanced standing in the TESOL program, you must:

  • Be earning a traditional undergraduate major or minor in linguistics or TESOL.
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA when you apply for the program and begin taking graduate-level courses.
  • Meet the admission requirements for the Master of Arts in TESOL program upon graduating with your undergraduate degree.
