CAEP Annual Reporting Measures
At Cornerstone University, the Teacher Education program—including the M.A. in education with a concentration in educational leadership and a concentration in curriculum and instruction—was awarded accreditation by the Council of the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for a period of seven years—from April 2021 to April 2028. The accreditation does not include individual education courses that the EPP offers to P-12 educators for professional development, re-licensure or other purposes.
CAEP has eight annual reporting measures that are used to provide information to the public on both program outcomes and program impact. Following is the list of the four applicable CAEP measures for advanced-level programs. For initial program measures, please visit our Undergraduate CAEP Annual Reporting Measures web page.
Measure 3: Satisfaction of Employers
Based on survey data employers state that the advanced program in educational leadership has prepared completers well for the demands of their work. Employers rated the overall preparation of completers on a scale of 1-5 (totally-unprepared-very well prepared), with all employers indicating a 5 (very well prepared) for their respective employee. Employers also indicated specific areas of professional expertise where completers were making a positive difference in their schools. In addition, employers described completers as having the skills and professional dispositions in keeping with expectations for educational leadership. Several employers indicated that completers are serving in a high-need school. They also noted that completers are on-track in terms of career progression and milestones.
Measure 4: Satisfaction of Completers
A summary of completer survey and interview data indicates that the advanced program in educational leadership has prepared completers well for the demands of their work. 100% of respondents rated their overall experience of the program as “Very Good” or “Excellent”.
All of the surveyed program completers indicate that they are currently employed within P-12 education in a range of positions, including dean of students, principal and teacher roles. In addition, surveyed completers are located within the State of Michigan reflecting the regional and local nature of the program. In total, 75% of completers stated that they had received a salary increase as a change in their career status since earning their degree. Other common changes included a change of employer or a promotion or other position change.
Measure 5: Graduation Rates
The advanced-level program (M.A. Education) data for the cohorts beginning in 2017 and 2018 show graduation rates of 80% and 100% respectively. Of the 10 students admitted in the 2017 cohort, 8 have graduated, 1 has transferred to the M. A. in Education: Curriculum and Instruction program and 1 has withdrawn. Eight students began in the 2018 cohort, and all 8 have graduated from the program.
Measure 6: Ability of Completers to Meet Licensure Requirements
The most recent survey data of 19 program completers indicates that 14 chose to pursue the building-level administrator endorsement with the Michigan Department of Education. Twelve completers stated that they have successfully obtained the endorsement, two completers are in the process of completing this process, and five completers are not in the process of pursuing the endorsement.
Every year Cornerstone University submits a Title II report required by the federal government to verify program information such as candidate and completer demographics, majors/minors and endorsements.
Measure 7: Ability of Completers to Be Hired in Education Positions
The advanced-level program (M.A. Education) data for the two most recent graduating cohorts indicate a 100% employment rate across preschool, elementary, middle school and high school levels of education.
Measure 8: Student Loan Default Rates & Other Consumer Information
Our most recent default rates were released in September 2020 and cover students who withdrew or graduated between Oct. 1, 2016, and Sept. 30, 2017. Our most recent default rate for that program is 0%. More information can be found at https://www2.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/defaultmanagement/cdr.html.
