Cornerstone’s 2024 First Nursing Graduates Achieve 100% NCLEX Pass Rate
Cornerstone University proudly announces its 2024 inaugural cohort of nursing graduates has achieved a remarkable 100% pass rate on the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination). This outstanding accomplishment reflects the disciplined work of each graduate, experienced professional faculty, and the program’s dedication to mission-driven high academic standards. The CCNE-accredited nursing program has been able to not just meet, but exceed national accreditation standards early in the program’s existence.
“Having a 100% pass rate for our very first cohort of nursing students is such an amazing accomplishment,” commended Dr. Misty Emmons, dean of the School of Health, Science, and Technology. “Our students worked incredibly hard to prepare, not only to pass the NCLEX, but also to enter the workforce as competent and compassionate registered nurses.”
As part of its broader mission, Cornerstone is committed to addressing the growing health care workforce gap by educating nurses who embody Christ-centered character while demonstrating exceptional skills. Each nursing graduate is currently working in West Michigan and many had job placement offers before graduation.
Lauren Nichol, a nurse manager at partner facility Corewell Health, had this to say about her experience working with Cornerstone nursing students, “I recently had the pleasure of working with Cornerstone University nursing students on a Medical Surgical unit at Corewell Health. The students were eager to learn and apply their skills to provide care to our patients. I was pleased to see how the university supported their students by providing elbow-to-elbow support at the bedside. This program has me excited to see how the future of nursing will impact our community and the patients we serve. We look forward to partnering with Cornerstone in future semesters to assist in mentoring and teaching our future nurses!”
Supporting and advancing the nursing, pre-medical and health care professions are deeply aligned with Cornerstone’s Christian mission to prepare highly valued leaders who represent the heart of our community in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and regions beyond.
BSN graduate Emma Walker, who is now working in a local pediatric office, expressed her excitement about the NCLEX pass rate and program:
“I’m thankful to have gone to a nursing program that not only prepared me well for the NCLEX, but also provided a Christian worldview throughout my nursing school journey which I have applied in my career and the way I provide care to my patients. Cornerstone’s nursing program set me up for success for the NCLEX and, most importantly, prepared me to be a good, safe graduate nurse.”
This significant milestone was further made possible by the outstanding faculty professionals who invested in the program and the first cohort of graduates.
“I am so thankful for the faculty and staff who have contributed to the development of our BSN degree program,” congratulates Dean Emmons. “We have worked to produce an academically rigorous program capable of preparing students to be successful registered nurses that also adheres to national accreditation requirements. In addition to this, we have developed a program that challenges students to view nursing care and current healthcare issues through the lens of Biblical truth.”
With this foundational vision and achievement, our nurse graduates reflect the love, healing, and hope of Jesus Christ to others in need.
