The Golden Eagles found themselves facing a team similar to the 2008-09 Cornerstone team tonight at Huntington. Huntington is filled with experience players who have gone through the battles together and Cornerstone is now less experienced after losing Tami Thelen, Kara Overbeek, and Jenna Plewes to graduation. The younger Golden Eagles went on the road and played a good Huntington team and came away with a 70-53 loss. Robyn and Melissa Veltkamp led the Golden Eagles with 15 and 12 points respectively. Brook Carter had 12 rebounds and dropped in 7 points for Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles shot 37.7% (20-53) from the field which included 3-8 from the 3-point line. Cornerstone made just 10-18 (55.6%) from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles drop to 0-1 on the season and will return to action this weekend when they host Trinity Christian in their home opener at 1:00 p.m.
