Cornerstone Defeats Trinity Christian 72-66

Cornerstone bounced back from their opening season loss at Huntington by defeating Trinity Christian 72-66 today. Melissa Veltkamp led the Golden Eagles with 24 points and 9 rebounds in the game. Three other players (Brooke Carter, Sam Flietstra, and Robyn Veltkamp) scored in double figures for the game. Carter scored 13 points and pulled down 6 rebounds. Flietstra and Robyn Veltkamp scored 10 each. Freshman Kayleigh Hammond had 7 points and 7 rebounds. The Golden Eagles made an impressive 60.7% of their shots from the floor in the first half and led 39-30 at the break. Cornerstone cooled off a bit in the second half but they made 9 of 11 from the free throw line to hold off the Trolls down the stretch.
