Casey Luskin, Ph.D.
Ph.D., JD
Distinguished Scholar of Earth and Life Sciences
Dr. Casey Luskin serves as Distinguished Scholar of Earth and Life Sciences at Cornerstone University. A geologist, attorney, and author, he studies questions about Earth history, biological origins, and science and Christian faith. He also serves as Associate Director, Research Director, and Senior Fellow of Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture.
His doctoral research at the University of Johannesburg examined magnetism preserved in rocks to investigate southern Africa’s early tectonic history. He also conducted research at Scripps Institution of Oceanography while studying at UC San Diego. His coauthored geology research has appeared in Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems and the South African Journal of Geology, with contributions to scholarly volumes published by Springer Nature and Elsevier.
An advocate for intelligent design, Luskin writes about biological origins, the fossil record, and arguments about design in nature. His legal scholarship addresses academic freedom and education. He has spoken at universities and conferences across four continents.
Luskin co-edited The Comprehensive Guide to Science and Faith with fellow Cornerstone distinguished scholar William Dembski and Joseph Holden. He coauthored Science and Human Origins and the curriculum Discovering Intelligent Design. He also co-founded the Intelligent Design and Evolution Awareness Center in 2001 to help students investigate evolution and intelligent design.
Within Cornerstone’s Christ-centered academic community, Luskin’s scholarship provides a resource for examining scientific evidence and Christian worldview. His work invites students to consider the assumptions behind explanations of origins and develop thoughtful responses to questions about the natural world and humanity’s place within it.
