Greetings from the Alumni Association! On April 18, 2017, I officially assumed the role of Director of Alumni Relations at Cornerstone University. As a two-time graduate of Cornerstone, I feel blessed to return to the place that deeply and eternally influenced my life.

What I Do in My Role

So you may be wondering, what exactly is the Director of Alumni Relations responsible for?

While I do have technical aspects to my job (i.e., recruitment, internships/career placement, fundraising and database tracking), my sole purpose in this role is to serve you, the alumni of Cornerstone University and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary.

In short, I hope to strengthen the network and visibility of alumni across the Cornerstone University spectrum and to enhance your connection with the University. I want to ensure that our investment in you does not end upon graduation. In fact, it’s just beginning!

Creation of the Alumni Blog

My goal for the creation of the Cornerstone Alumni Association blog is simple. We have incredible alumni who are doing great things throughout the world. Many of these stories go unheard. You will notice moving forward, not only are we going to tell these stories, we are going to honor and promote them!

We will have guest writers. We will have featured educators, pastors and business owners. We will share events, updates and links to other blogs. Best of all, we will be able to share your personal story including the ways that you are influencing the world for Christ!

Regional Alumni Chapters

I am excited to announce that two new regional Alumni Chapters—Chicago and Auburn Hills—successfully launched in 2017; I hope that others will soon follow.

There are many advantages to being involved in an alumni chapter. Participation in these chapters provides an opportunity to stay updated on news from campus, meet and network with other Cornerstone graduates living in your area and live life together through various events and activities.

If you are interested in starting and regional chapter in your area, I would be happy to steer you in the right direction!

Upcoming Events

I’m also currently working on formalizing our Alumni Association in order to bring more awareness to the many resources and benefits of being a Cornerstone graduate. This includes planning several business after-hour (evening) networking events as well as reinstating Homecoming and Family Weekend in Fall 2018!

If you are interested in hosting or participating in an evening networking event, email me at your convenience.

Introduce Yourself

As we continue to move the Alumni Association ahead, there are a few things that I need from you as I determine how to serve you as a fellow alum of this institution. Simply stated, I need your voice, participation and prayers. Something as simple as volunteering for an event on campus, recommending Cornerstone to a potential student or suggesting possible events would be fantastic!

I look forward to building relationships with each of you. As such, I would appreciate the opportunity to hear from you, to collaborate with you and to listen to your suggestions on how we can make our Alumni Association a stronger, more engaged group. A simple email or phone call (616.222.1439) to let me know what you have been doing since graduation would be great.
