Scholarship Contract

Congratulations on being offered a Music Award from Cornerstone University’s Music Department! We look forward to contributing to your development as a student musician and seeing how your talents will grow and shine even brighter in the future. To view your award amount, see the email that was recently sent to you.

Please complete the contract below to acknowledge your acceptance of your award. The deadline for signing the contract is May 20.

Large Ensemble Participation

Award recipients with a concentration in instrumental music are required to participate in Symphonic Winds (MUP-X21). Those with a concentration in voice are required to participate in University Chorale (MUP-X01) subject to a successful Chorale audition. Exceptions to the large ensemble requirement are limited to music education majors completing their student teaching requirement in their final semester. Some vocal students may be required to participate in Chancel Singers (MUP-X11) until their Chorale audition is completed successfully. Guitar and piano majors should stay within the group in which they originally auditioned.

Small Ensemble Participation

In addition to large ensembles, scholarship recipients may be required to participate in small ensembles as determined by Cornerstone music faculty, including Worship Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble or other chamber ensembles.

Applied Lessons

Music majors and minors are required to take private lessons in their primary performance area (e.g., voice, specific instrument) each semester. The required applied lesson fee is covered as part of the music scholarship.

Award Conditions

Annual renewal of this award is contingent upon fulfillment of the terms of the award contract by the student and subject to the availability of funds. Failure to fulfill any of the conditions stated in the Scholarship Agreement may result in music award probation, reduction or elimination. Any changes or variation in the stated conditions will require the student to reapply for the continuation of the award. Should this award reduce or eliminate your eligibility for government need-based grants, Cornerstone University reserves the right to reduce the dollar amount of the music award accordingly.
