Sport Management

Our world needs business professionals who live lives marked by uncompromising Christlike values, dedication and compassion. At Cornerstone University, a major in sport management prepares students for graduate education or positions requiring business, leadership and analytical skills.

Program Learning Outcomes

The sport management program reflects our commitment to developing students’ knowledge, skills and attitudes in five distinct yet interconnected areas: specialized knowledge; applied knowledge and collaborative learning; intellectual skills; civic and global learning; and biblical worldview integration.

01

Specialized Knowledge

Demonstrate foundational sport event management, leadership and legal knowledge necessary for success in sport management professions.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the various skills, roles and functions of sport managers.
  • Explain legal concepts, basic risk management issues and governing bodies as they relate to the sport workplace.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in sport event planning/management.

Demonstrate ethical leadership and proficiency in analyzing, organizing and executing basic business strategy through interpretive, interactive and innovative marketplace action in response to internal and external environments. This includes knowledge of analytic tools (gather/gain meaning from data); effective business communication methodology (oral, written and other industry-specific); business plan artifacts (financial, etc.); marketing strategy (five Ps); teamwork; leadership; and innovation/entrepreneurship.

03

Intellectual Skills

Demonstrate your ability to integrate both traditional and non-traditional cognitive skills, including analytical inquiry, information literacy, quantitative fluency and communicative fluency.

04

05

Biblical Worldview Integration

At Cornerstone, you not only learn practical skills in your field of study, but you learn to incorporate your faith in every aspect of everything you do. I can’t think of anything that is better than that.
