Cornerstone University Partners with Project H.O.O.D.
Cornerstone University is honored to work with Project H.O.O.D. (Helping Others Obtain Destiny), an influential nonprofit founded by Rev. Corey Brooks — a visionary pastor, entrepreneur, and community leader on Chicago’s South Side. This new Golden Eagle Partnership offers Project H.O.O.D. staff and community students guaranteed admission to all Cornerstone undergraduate programs — on campus, online, and through SOAR™, the nation’s first fully smartphone-streaming business degree — along with dedicated scholarships and opportunities to collaborate in both Chicago and Grand Rapids.
“This partnership with Cornerstone University is so important. It is about preparing that God-given potential for action — equipping students not only for careers, but for their calling. We are investing in leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers who will take what God has placed in them and use it to rebuild our neighborhoods and transform our city for generations to come.”
— Rev. Corey Brooks, CEO of Project H.O.O.D. Communities Development Corporation
Benefits of the Project H.O.O.D. Partnership
Members of Project H.O.O.D. will receive the following benefits when applying to and enrolling at Cornerstone University:
- Free Application: All application fees will be waived.
- Guaranteed Acceptance: Members are guaranteed admission to all undergraduate programs offered at our Grand Rapids campus, through our online programs,* and in the SOAR™ program. To qualify, applicants must submit an application along with all required admissions materials.
- Special Scholarship: A scholarship will be awarded to each member who enrolls. The scholarship amount will vary depending on whether the student is enrolled in an on-campus or online program.
- Onsite Presence: A Cornerstone University staff member will regularly be on-site at Project H.O.O.D. to help students navigate the application process and prepare for success at CU. Students and their families will also be invited to accelerated application days held in the Project H.O.O.D. neighborhood in Chicago during the fall and spring semesters. Additionally, Cornerstone staff will support students with the financial aid process by offering FAFSA workshops and providing hands-on assistance with completing the application.
*The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is excluded from the guaranteed acceptance benefit due to specific program admission requirements. Students are welcome to apply through the standard process for consideration and review.
