Psychology Minor - Online

PSY-235: Lifespan Development Psychology

Understand human development from conception to late life through a bio-psycho-social-spiritual lens. Apply behaviorism, psychoanalytic, social learning, cognitive, psychosocial, and ecological theories.

PSY-241: Introduction to Psychological Theories, History and Systems

Survey the major theories, historical foundations, and key ideas that shape modern psychology, including perspectives on development, learning, motivation, emotion, and personality.

PSY-441: Physiological Psychology

Discover the relationship between physiology and behavior and the neurological basis of disorders, motor function, language, memory, learning, and emotion.

PSY-424: Introduction to Counseling

Learn counseling theories and techniques from a Christ-centered worldview with a focus on the required professional and ethical standards.

Students will choose two electives in areas such as cultural perspectives, research and data analysis, counseling theory, mental health, relationships and emerging issues in psychology.

PSY-111: General Psychology

Learn foundational concepts, theories, and methods in psychology, including development, personality, perception, learning, biopsychology, disorders, and treatment.

PSY-239: Adult Psychology

Examine psychological development and challenges from young adulthood through the end of life in this in-depth study of the human lifespan.*

PSY-353: Abnormal Psychology

Examine major categories of mental disorders, symptoms, causes, and treatment approaches, including anxiety, mood, personality, and psychotic disorders.*

PSY-441: Physiological Psychology

Discover the relationship between physiology and behavior and the neurological basis of disorders, motor function, language, memory, learning, and emotion.

Psychology for Teachers Minor

PSY-111: General Psychology

Learn foundational concepts, theories, and methods in psychology, including development, personality, perception, learning, biopsychology, disorders, and treatment.

PSY-343: Psychology of Learning

Apply major learning theories to understand what motivates learners and supports effective learning across diverse contexts, with emphasis on reflection, metacognition and real-world application.

PSY-353: Abnormal Psychology

Examine major categories of mental disorders, symptoms, causes, and treatment approaches, including anxiety, mood, personality, and psychotic disorders.

PSY-355: Integrated Stat Research I

Build statistical and research skills with an emphasis on practical applications in the helping professions. Design quantitative and qualitative studies, address research ethics, and develop surveys and protocols. Work in teams to write proposals, secure CU-IRB approval, collect data, analyze results in SPSS, and present findings through written and oral reports. Students will seek conference presentations or publication of their work.

PSY-356: Integrated Stats/Research II

Learn and apply statistical and research skills in the helping professions with a focus on hands-on projects and data analysis. Work in teams to write research proposals, collect empirical data, conduct SPSS analysis, and present findings through written and oral reports. Students are encouraged to seek conference presentations or publication of their original work.

Students may choose one elective in the theory of personality or social psychology.
