How to Apply to Cornerstone University

Homeschool students follow Cornerstone’s regular First-Year Admissions process. First-year applicants must have a minimum 2.5 high school GPA.

Preparing Your Homeschool Transcript

Your final official homeschool transcript must include your cumulative GPA, graduation date (month and year) and parent signature. A transcript is considered final after you have graduated and the graduation date is listed.

Recommended High School Coursework

Cornerstone recommends the following college-preparatory coursework:

  • English: 8 semesters
  • Mathematics: 6 semesters
  • Science: 4 semesters
  • Social Science/History: 6 semesters
  • Foreign Language: 4 semesters
  • Academic Electives: 8 semesters

Dual Enrollment & Homeschool Co-ops

Get an early start on college through Cornerstone’s Dual Enrollment program. Homeschool students with a 3.0 GPA or higher can take college-level courses online or on campus and earn credits toward a future degree.

Part of a homeschool co-op? You can participate in Dual Enrollment, too. Simply identify your co-op when you apply.

If you completed college courses while homeschooling, be sure to send Cornerstone an official transcript from the college or university where you earned the credit. Cornerstone will evaluate eligible coursework to determine how it may apply toward your degree.

Do homeschool students have different admission requirements?

No. Homeschool students apply as first-year students and follow Cornerstone’s regular first-year admissions process. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 high school GPA. ACT, SAT and CLT scores are not required, although you may submit them if you choose. Some academic programs may have additional requirements.

What should be included on my homeschool transcript?

Your final official homeschool transcript should include your cumulative GPA, graduation date with month and year, and a parent signature. The transcript is considered final once you have graduated and your graduation date is included.

How do I calculate my homeschool GPA?

Cornerstone’s Homeschool Transcript Guide provides guidance for calculating your cumulative high school GPA and preparing your transcript.

What high school courses should I take to prepare for Cornerstone?

Cornerstone recommends a college-preparatory curriculum that includes eight semesters of English; six semesters each of mathematics and social science/history; four semesters each of science and foreign language; and eight semesters of academic electives.

Can homeschool and homeschool co-op students participate in Dual Enrollment?

Yes. Homeschool students with a 3.0 GPA or higher can apply to take Cornerstone college courses while still in high school. Courses are available online or on campus. Homeschool co-op students can identify their co-op when they apply.

Can college credits earned while homeschooling count toward my Cornerstone degree?

They may. If you earned college credit while in high school, submit an official transcript from the college or university where you completed the coursework. Cornerstone will evaluate eligible credits to determine how they apply toward your degree.
