When it came to deciding where I wanted to go to college, no aspect was more influential than my visit to Cornerstone University.

I knew all of the university’s statistics and had previous meetings with admissions counselors from CU, but nothing was able to sway my decision to commit to attending Cornerstone more than seeing all of the things I had read about for myself.

During my overnight and Golden Eagle Day visit, I got to experience many of the opportunities that Cornerstone has to offer. This guide is made so that you are able to experience them as well!

TAKE THE TOUR

I’m the type of person who takes pride in always knowing where I’m going. On my first visit to CU, I told myself I did not need to take the tour because I wanted the freedom to explore all by myself. Convincing myself of this turned out to be pretty unrealistic.

It was fun to walk around campus myself, but it was less fun when I discovered after I moved into my dorm that campus had an indoor track and racquetball court I had completely missed during my solo adventure. It made me wonder what else I didn’t know about.

Our tour guides have been trained not only to take you to all of the most interesting and important spots on campus, but they are also trained with rich history that will show you that, wherever you stand on campus, greatness once stood there as well.

SIT IN ON A CLASS

This might not be the first thing that springs to mind as a fun to-do when on a school trip, but I would argue that it is one of the most important.

Understanding how professors teach and how Cornerstone implements a faith-based learning system into each classroom is vital to understanding the Christian college community you could one day be part of here.

Communicating with your admissions counselor beforehand could even mean that you get to sit in on a specific class that interests you. Or, if you’ve been reading up on professors, you could possibly get into a class to hear them speak!

If given enough time, it is also sometimes possible to schedule a sit down meeting with certain professors. Make sure you ask well in advance though, especially if you’re interested with speaking to an athletic coach.

TRY THE FOOD

I don’t know about you, but food quality can make or break a lot for me.

I have been to plenty of universities that allow you only a certain amount of food at a quality not much better than what you could find directly in the trash can next to you.

However, Cornerstone has both variety and quality to spare. With the buffet-style food offerings, as well as staples like sandwiches, salads and cereals, I find that there is always something I’d like to eat there.

Like everyone else, I have my favorite meals, but I always know that I can find something to eat when I go into the lunchroom. I encourage you to try it for yourself!

Oh, and there is a constantly running soft serve machine. Need I say more?

ARRIVE ON TIME

Now that you know all of the inside tips, there’s only one step left for you to take: make sure you’re there on time! Being tardy means you don’t get to experience all of the things a Golden Eagle Day has to offer!

Be sure to take this incredibly important step to ensure your time at Cornerstone is one filled with great memories. However, now that I’m thinking about it, there may be one more helpful step: register for a visit!
