Cornerstone University's Enactus Team to Host Pop-Up Prom Dress Boutique

News Feb. 23, 2018

Cornerstone University’s Enactus team members will be hosting a “pop-up prom dress boutique” for local high school students on Saturday, Feb. 24 in the university’s Bernice Hansen Athletic Center from 12–4 p.m. A selection of gently used prom dresses, collected from Cornerstone students and donations from local consignment shops, will be available to the students for a donation of two canned good items.

Hannah Abraham, a Cornerstone student and Enactus team member, came up with the idea last year, as she wanted to give high school students another option for prom dress shopping. Last year, the pop-up boutique was held in one school, but this year, Abraham wanted to open the event up to more students to attend.

“I know how expensive prom can be and what it is like to not have the ability to get the dress you want. I would love to be part of helping some girls feel extra special for prom,” Abraham said.

At the event, students will be asked to provide a school ID to shop, which will give them the opportunity to browse the racks of dresses, be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate to a local nail salon and get their picture taken with their perfect dress.

About Enactus

Enactus is a student-led team that identifies needs in their community and uses their talents and skills to take action to meet those needs. This year, 40 team members are working on 12 different projects, including the prom dress drive, working with entrepreneurial middle schoolers and hosting an annual International Artisan Market.

The team competes each spring against other Enactus teams across the country as they show how they empowered others to live more sustainable lives and improved the standard of living for those in their community.
