CU Hosts 2nd Annual International Artisan Market
Where can you travel the world’s artisan markets yet stay in the same room? Cornerstone University’s Enactus team is hosting an International Artisan Market where shoppers can do just that; and even better, they can help small businesses in the process.
On Nov. 19, 2016, the Bernice Hansen Athletic Center’s field gym at CU will be transformed into an international market with many local and international organizations offering artisanal products from around the world such as jewelry, scarves, handmade soaps, artwork and more.
The project began with a group of students who traveled to Ecuador and witnessed the roadblock the small artisans’ businesses faced: a lack of customers.
The group of students wanted to change that through creating opportunities for connecting sellers with buyers. The vision is to empower these small artisan businesses, using their own creative abilities, to support their families and themselves.
The November 2015 International Artisan Market was the first annual market, hosting almost 500 community members supporting artisans from around the world through shopping, attending and participating.
This November, the project seeks growth in having more partner organizations selling and even more community members to participate. Join us in celebrating and empowering these small businesses.
