CU Named 2015 Christian College of Distinction

News March 4, 2015

Cornerstone University was recently awarded the honor of being one of three universities in the state of Michigan as a 2015 Christian College of Distinction.

“You’ll find both prominent names and ‘hidden gems’ on our list of colleges and universities (this year),” the Colleges of Distinction website says. “They all share excellent reputations among high school guidance counselors and education professionals, not to mention employers and graduate schools. Their classrooms are among the most exciting in the country; their programs are some of the most innovative.”

Each university must be nominated by high school college counselors, college administrative members and the Colleges of Distinction selection team before an application can be filled out.

The Colleges of Distinction interview senior administration, faculty, alumni and current students at each nominated college. Feedback is gathered from administrators at other colleges and high school counselors across the country. Each school is visited to get a feel for student engagement and quality of teaching.

The organization also weighs in graduation rates, classroom size and other key stats.

The other two universities named in Michigan are: Calvin College and Spring Arbor University.

The organization says: “When you choose a Christian College of Distinction, you can be assured that there won’t be a shortage of opportunities for you to grow spiritually. There are bible study groups, worship services, service projects and even daily chapel at some schools. And while each school is affiliated with a religion, and that faith will be predominate, not all students will be of a single religion.”
