Facility Management and Design Students Toured Indianapolis Athletic Facilities
Professor Huckaby and Peter Bryant (CU Assistant Athletic Director) traveled with 12 students to Indianapolis for an experiential learning opportunity in MGT-322 (Facility Management and Design Class). We were able to see and observe Indiana Convention Center & Lucas Oil Stadium (Home of the Indianapolis Colts), Gainbridge Fieldhouse (Home of Indiana Pacers), Victory Field (Home of Indianapolis Indians – AAA Baseball), and the NCAA Hall of Champions.
This was a great opportunity to see how facilities are managed, run, and designed to meet the needs of today’s sports consumers. These are world-class facilities, and our students were able to learn and get an ‘inside’ perspective on designing and running facilities of this magnitude. The goal of expanding their perspective on facilities of this size (and how they are both managed and funded) was a point of emphasis. Additional areas that the students investigated were:
- Sustainability in Facilities
- Safety and Liability
- Fan ‘Experience’
- Inclusivity for all Stakeholders
- Incorporation of Technology in Sport Facilities
