Ingrid Huber always knew she wanted to be a nurse. During her college years, she had the opportunity to hear a lecture from a professor’s wife who underwent a bone marrow transplant following failed cancer treatments. This time in isolation was incredibly lonely but daily notes and Bible verses left by her nurse showing extra care for her particular situation were incredibly encouraging. This inspiration became the driving force for her life calling and she has worked in a variety of nursing positions from cardiac ICU to women’s health to pediatrics to home care.
Ingrid and her husband have shared a passion for working with students in a Christian education setting since 1995. Mentoring high school students, leading missions trips and opening up their home for fourteen years in the Chicago suburbs prepared them for the last ten years of ministry with college-age students. Being involved in campus life and investing in the lives of students have fostered deep relationships and meaningful friendships for their family over the years.
In addition to her role as a registered nurse, Ingrid serves on the Accommodations Review Committee through the Center for Student Success.
“One of the highlights of serving at CU has been involvement with Night of Nets and bed net distribution on a global outreach trip to Zambia, Africa in 2016. Sharing the love of Christ with over 20 Cornerstone students in such a tangible way while sharing faith stories, playing soccer games and providing hygiene education had a huge impact on my life. Serving in the Sojourners Mentoring Program and developing deep relationships and accountability with female staff and students in one-on-one time has been another highlight of my time at CU.”
