Professor Victoria Fleenor is an assistant professor of business at Cornerstone University. She has taught students at all levels in various capacities since 1999 and applies her experience to Cornerstone’s systems, programming and database courses, as well as statistics, operations management and project management.

Her teaching experience includes leading the Computer Information Systems department at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich., as well as adjunct positions at both Aquinas College and Grand Valley State University. She has also taught introductory computing courses to retirement-age students through various community programs. Prior to entering academia full-time, Professor Fleenor’s professional background included thirteen years in custom software development for the automotive ERP industry.

Mentoring young women to encourage involvement in STEM careers is one of Victoria’s passions. Toward this goal, she has facilitated a local Girls Who Code chapter for three years; this club has grown from three to six local high school girls to more than 20 young women currently enrolled in local middle and high school programs. These girls meet weekly to practice application development, learn basic computer science skills and develop professional, collaborative approaches to learning.

“Teaching at Cornerstone allows me to instruct the whole person … not only am I able to present theoretical approaches and practical, timely application of business and technological content, but I am encouraged and supported to do so while synthesizing biblical truth. In a world where truth often seems irrelevant, this is so important. We learn from the students too! They force us to explain our beliefs, question our assumptions, and to sometimes ‘rock the boat.’ We grow together towards becoming the uniquely gifted individuals God has created us to be.”
