The English minor includes two pathways — English for Secondary Teachers (7–12) and the general English minor — allowing you to personalize your coursework around adolescent classroom teaching or broader professional communication skills.

Secondary Ed English Minor

ENG-223: Introduction to Literature

Apply methods of literary interpretation and evaluation to cultivate critical and analytical skills across genres of imaginative literature.

ENG-226: Introduction to Creative Writing

Learn foundational forms and techniques for writing poetry, fiction, and drama.

ENG-319: Advanced Grammar

Analyze English grammar — both descriptive and prescriptive — using traditional, structural, and transformational approaches.

Students will select three elective courses from selections such as adolescent literature, major authors and literary eras, modern and contemporary writing, or focused studies in American or British literary traditions.
