The Environmental Sustainability Minor offers flexible exposure to environmental science and biology while incorporating environmental health, policy, and applied study options that strengthen conservation-related understanding and align with your interests.

Environmental Sustainability Minor

ECO-241: Environmental Science

Explore environmental issues through ecology, philosophy, economics, sociology, and politics. Address air and water quality, population dynamics, energy, waste, sustainability, policy, and government agencies.

ECO-400: Environmental Biology Capstone

Investigate pressing local and global environmental issues and the interdisciplinary strategies necessary to address them, with emphasis on Christian environmental stewardship.

Students also choose two electives that explore environmental law and policy, environmental health, or global urban contexts connected to environmental and community challenges.

Students also choose one elective in macroeconomics or international development economics related to environmental and resource decision-making.

Students also choose one elective focused on advanced ecological study, agriculture, international development, or applied environmental topics, including field-based options.

The Environmental Sustainability Minor enhances a student’s major by adding environmental literacy, increasingly valued across conservation- and environment-related fields. It supports roles such as conservation program assistant, environmental technician, sustainability or stewardship coordinator, environmental health support staff, policy or research assistant, and nonprofit or community program coordinator, without leading to licensure on its own.
