Education programs in the traditional undergraduate and Professional & Graduate Studies divisions are accredited by the Michigan Department of Education through the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The Michigan Department of Education requires CAEP certification to ensure that certain standards and criteria be met by colleges and universities in order for their teacher education graduates to be state-certified.
The traditional undergraduate social work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The sole accrediting agency for social work, CSWE aims to promote and strengthen the quality of social work education through the preparation of competent social work professionals by providing national leadership and a forum for collective action.
Accreditation by CSWE is given to select schools nationwide who meet stringent criteria. Cornerstone is one of less than 700 colleges and universities who meet these criteria.
