Online Authorization
and Complaints
Cornerstone University is a private not-for-profit Christian university located in Grand Rapids, Mich., with additional physical locations within the State of Michigan. Federal and state laws have established requirements that regulate distance (online) education programs offered by post-secondary institutions.
In addition, Cornerstone is accredited by a number of autonomous accrediting agencies. Cornerstone makes every effort to comply with all laws and best practices related to the delivery of its distance education programs.
State Authorization
Cornerstone is approved by the State of Michigan to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement is an agreement among member states, districts and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offering of post-secondary distance education courses and programs. It is intended to make it easier for students to take online courses offered by post-secondary institutions based in another state.
SARA is overseen by a National Council and administered by four regional education compacts. As an approved institution in the State of Michigan, Cornerstone University is authorized to offer online courses and programs in all other SARA-member states.
Consumer Complaints
Any complaints should first go through Cornerstone’s standard procedure for the resolution of student grievances (see Student Handbooks for details).
