Wilke and Lash Honored With President's Award

News May 10, 2017

On Saturday, May 5, Cornerstone University celebrated undergraduate commencement.

Among the fantastic graduates were two exemplary students who were awarded the distinguished President’s Award.

Each year, this honor is bestowed upon one female and one male graduate. These graduates exemplify the fulfillment of CU’s mission to develop graduates who will distinguish themselves as influencers in our world for Christ. Award winners stand apart in regard to academic excellence, excellence in leadership, excellence in Christian service and excellence in campus involvement.

This year, President Stowell was honored to give the distinguished awards to biology major Ciara Wilke and to business major Austin Lash.

Wilke has left her mark on the Cornerstone community as an academic tutor, peer adviser and division representative to the Center for Student Success. She also stood out as a leader on the women’s softball team and as a valuable lab assistant to the Science Division.

Noted for her positive attitude, strong work ethic, humble spirit and love for Christ, Wilke embodies the vision of Cornerstone University in immeasurable ways.

Award winner Austin Lash is noted especially for excellence in campus involvement. As a talented worship leader, valuable member of the Enactus team and a standout member of the University Chorale, Austin is noted for consistently pointing the CU community to Christ on and off the stage.

Lash has set a high bar in terms of student leadership and the joy of the Lord is evidenced in every facet of his presence on campus.

The Cornerstone community is grateful to have hosted these two distinguished graduates, and we look forward to seeing how they will influence the world for Jesus Christ.
